D5 Architects LLP working with WSP, conceived, developed and detailed the new build bus and coach station within the Heathrow central termninal area. Built on top of the London Underground box to serve local bus, national coach and the underground station the concourse was built in the heart of Heathrow without closure of the existing station or circulation routes.

D5 Architects, working with the balloonist Pier Lindstrand and WSP conceived, developed and detailed the new build bus and coach station within the Heathrow Airport central terminal area.

The facility was built on top of the airports London Underground station and serves local bus, national coach and the underground station below within the heart of Heathrow without closure of the existing station or circulation routes. The innovative inflatable roof structure covers a central concourse area bound by retail food and drink offer units, plus ticket desks and principle access points to the bus and coach departure gates, plus vertical circulation to the underground train system below.

The whole project for this second busiest coach station in the UK, was built in 26 weeks.
