The project involved the refurbishment and extension of a disused factory building to create a centre for the development and support of local cultural industries among young people.
The project was fund through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), SRB2 and the Arts Lottery Fund and accommodates community dance and performance space, an IT editing suite, a recording studio, cafe and business enterprise facilities.
The brown field site was given new use through refurbishment and extension of an existing building to create a landmark community building, to act as a catalyst for future regeneration of the area. The local community were involved in the design process through public consultations which generated a sense of ownership and respect for the building.
