Residential
Legge Lane
Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham
Redevelopment of whole urban block with contemporary contextual residential apartment buildings.
The project involved the careful redevelopment of a site within the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area. The site had remained unused since it ceased industrial use in the 1970’s with only two very dilapidated structures remaining on site from the former series of brass works that operated there including Albion Works and Wellington Works.
The redevelopment created a complex of residential apartment buildings set around three courtyards and includes the retention and restoration of the former Wellington Works building facing onto Legge Lane.
A total of 100 residential units are propose in the development including 62 1-bedroom and 36 2-bedroom apartments, within 6 interconnected buildings each with its own character so the development appears as an organic development within the Jewellery Quarter representing the scale, mass and articulation of historic properties within the quarter.
