Coventry Rail Station
Coventry, West Midlands
The redevelopment of Coventry Station includes a new station building, footbridge, multi-storey car park, bus interchange and associated public realm works.
D5 were appointed by WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff to undertake the GRIP Stage 3 architectural design work for the Coventry Station Masterplan. The works are part of a wider £82.4m infrastructural improvement scheme.
The new station building will sit adjacent to the existing 1962 Grade II listed station building and provide new concourse and retail facilities along with new platform access. Sitting alongside and above the new station building is a 644 space multi-storey car park. A new footbridge will provide lift and stepped access to all platforms from the new station building.
A new public space sits between the existing rail station and new station building, linking to the new Friargate boulevard and the city centre beyond.
A bus interchange is also proposed to the west of the new station building. The bus interchange will provide an enclosed concourse serving six stands, along with ticketing and information facilities.
